Metal cuboid. Simple, cubist shape. Stainless steel. Rusted steel. Scratched out old gold and perfection of acrylic black. Brown of tree bark and natural wood. Matt and shining. Modesty and wealthy. It’s all oxymorons of shape, that are joined by one special element: split running from the bottom to burner. The split made of real 24-karat gold.

Gold bio fires are project of German company Wodtke. Simple, geometric form is usually designer’s idea, but this one has some artistic, symbolic value. Vertical line leads to horizontal fire line – element, movement, the very first people’s dream. Vertical and horizontal, movement and steadiness, materiality and immateriality meet for a moment in this simple form, in order to create new, different way to future. Used materials and finishing techniques finally give us – it’s very daring to say it here – silver. Doubtless, Wodtke creates beautiful objects, but this proposition is rather for experts. The price of this bio fire, is nearly eight thousands dollars! Is it worth it? Of course. Specially for these, who want for once be on top.
